adjustability

About adjustability

Independent professional indemnity claim adjusters with over 30 years of specialist experience, instructed by insurers and law firms across the UK.

Established in the specialist end of the market

adjustability was founded over 25 years ago by Brian Cosgrave and Keith Honeyman — seasoned market professionals each with over 40 years of claim adjusting experience. Their focus from the outset was clear: professional indemnity claim adjusting for the built environment and professional services. The practice has always been instructed by insurers and law firms — parties who need independent, technically credible analysis of complex PI claims, not a generalist adjuster working from a panel.

Over more than two decades we built a practice that is deliberately narrow in scope and deep in expertise. We do not handle property claims, liability claims, or motor. We handle PI — and within PI, we concentrate on the sectors where the technical demands are highest: construction including design and construct, engineers, architects, surveyors, management companies, estate agents, and insurance brokers.

Independence is not a selling point. It is the foundation.

We are not aligned with any insurer, underwriter, or panel. Every instruction we accept is handled on its own merits, with our sole obligation to the instructing party. That independence is what makes our assessments credible — to claimants, to opposing solicitors, and to tribunals. It is also what makes us useful to the insurers and law firms who instruct us: they need an adjuster whose conclusions will stand up, not one whose conclusions are predictable.

How we approach every instruction

Technical depth

PI claims in the built environment require an understanding of professional standards, contractual obligations, and causation that goes well beyond general claim adjusting. We have that understanding, developed over 30 years of specialist PI practice.

Rigorous quantum

Investigation and assessment of financial loss is our core discipline. We quantify loss with precision, consider betterment, contributory negligence, contractual caps and limitations, and advise on recovery and subrogation where relevant.

Clear communication

Instructing parties need to understand where a claim stands and what the options are. We communicate clearly throughout — on liability, on quantum, on strategy — so that decisions can be made on the basis of accurate information.

UK-wide coverage

We accept instructions from across the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland. We attend site, attend mediations, and engage with all parties wherever the claim arises.
